Kesser Kunda Community Visit: Reviewing Progress and Local Priorities
The Fuladu Foundation visited Kesser Kunda to see the community borehole in operation, hear directly from residents, and continue discussions around the village’s development priorities, including water, education, community infrastructure, and livelihoods.
On 13 August 2026, the Fuladu Foundation visited Kesser Kunda to reconnect with community members, review progress on existing initiatives, and continue discussions on priorities that can guide future work in the village.
A central part of the visit was the Kesser Kunda community borehole, funded and constructed by the Fuladu Foundation and operational since March 2026. Seeing the borehole in daily use provided an opportunity to observe the infrastructure first-hand and hear from residents about its role in the community.
The visit also created space to listen directly to residents and discuss the way forward for the community’s mosque project. The priorities raised include building a dedicated women’s wing, developing a mortuary house to support families at the time of passing, and fencing the mosque perimeter to prevent wandering animals from entering the grounds. Together, these improvements are intended to strengthen dignity in worship and in passing, while creating a more appropriate and inclusive space for women to participate in community and religious life. Alongside these discussions, the Foundation continues to consider opportunities related to education and sustainable livelihoods, reflecting its community-led approach of listening to residents and working with communities to identify practical responses to locally expressed priorities.
Kesser Kunda holds a special place in the Foundation’s work. The Fuladu Foundation was created in memory of Dr. Momodou Lamin Sedat Jobe, whose life of public service continues to inspire its commitment to practical, community-rooted development. The visit offered another opportunity to connect that legacy with initiatives responding to everyday community priorities.
The Foundation will continue working with residents to identify realistic next steps and develop initiatives that are locally driven, practical, and sustainable.
