Expanding Household Access to Clean Water in Bajiran
Following completion of the community borehole, the Foundation supported the expansion of the water network to bring clean water closer to families. More than 50 families are benefiting, including around 20 households with direct connections.
Access to reliable clean water was one of the priorities identified by residents of Bajiran during consultations with the Fuladu Foundation.
In response, the Foundation supported the development of a solar-powered community borehole. The system includes solar-powered pumping infrastructure, water storage, and distribution points serving the community.
Following completion of the main borehole infrastructure, attention turned to extending the network closer to households.
By 16 April 2026, more than 50 families were benefiting from improved access to clean water. Around 20 households had connected directly to the borehole network, allowing families to access water within their own compounds rather than relying exclusively on communal collection points.
To support the continued expansion of household access, the Fuladu Foundation funded additional piping so that more families could progressively connect to the water system.
The expansion reflects an important principle behind the Foundation’s approach to community infrastructure: completing physical infrastructure is only one part of the process. The longer-term objective is to help ensure that investments are accessible, useful in daily life, and sustained by the communities they serve.
For families in Bajiran, extending the network closer to homes represents another step towards making clean water more accessible in everyday life. The Fuladu Foundation will continue to follow the use of the system with the community and support efforts that strengthen its accessibility and long-term sustainability.
