Help equip two new ECD classrooms
Construction costs are funded or covered by confirmed commitments. GMD 175,595 remains to equip the classrooms, provide solar lighting and install a handwashing station.
Project Overview
Education is a cornerstone of sustainable development and community resilience. In Bajiran, residents have identified the need for safer, more supportive learning spaces.
Al Huda Islamic School serves over 400 students. The overcrowded makeshift structure previously shared by the youngest learners prompted this project to build two permanent early childhood development (ECD) classrooms.
The two classrooms are expected to welcome 115 pupils: 60 in ECD1 and 55 in ECD2.
The school also faces financial and operational constraints:
- Some children, including orphans and vulnerable pupils, attend without paying fees.
- Teachers continue to serve despite limited or irregular compensation.
- Learning materials and basic resources remain limited.
The project builds on the community’s commitment to keeping education accessible.

Phase 1: Construction and Equipping of Two ECD Classrooms
The Fuladu Foundation is completing two permanent Early Childhood Development (ECD) classrooms at Al Huda Islamic School to replace the shared makeshift learning space and provide ECD1 and ECD2 with separate, safer and more suitable classrooms.
Progress as of 25 October 2026:
The structures, roofing and floor layering for both ECD1 and ECD2 have been completed.
Construction funding is fully secured through contributions and confirmed commitments.
GMD 70,000 has been released towards classroom furniture, with completion of the furniture still to be confirmed.
Some final payments and implementation confirmations remain outstanding.
With the main construction works now largely completed, the project is moving into its final equipping phase. The remaining priorities are to complete the classroom furniture, install basic solar lighting and provide handwashing facilities.
These final improvements will help ensure that the two classrooms are not only structurally complete, but ready to provide approximately 115 ECD pupils with more appropriate learning conditions.
School Supply Options:
These are alternative packages, additional to the GMD 175,595 classroom funding gap.
- OPTION 1 – ECD Supplies for GMD 145,750: school bags and basic stationery for 115 pupils, plus shared early-learning and art materials.
Combined funding need: GMD 321,345. - OPTION 2 – Whole-school Supplies for GMD 467,250: school bags and basic stationery for 445 pupils across ECD and Grades 1–6.
Combined funding need: GMD 642,845.
