Project Overview
The mosque is an important place of worship and community gathering in Bajiran. Residents have identified the improvement of the mosque as one of the community’s priorities.
For more than 30 years, the community has sought to complete the building. Over time, the unfinished structure has deteriorated and now requires significant work.
During consultations, residents indicated that both rehabilitating and completing the existing mosque and rebuilding on a new site could be considered. The community has expressed its willingness to identify another site if reconstruction proves to be the more appropriate option.
The Fuladu Foundation will continue working with residents and local leaders to assess these options and identify a practical way forward that reflects community priorities and respects local traditions.
Project Components
- Assessment of the existing structure and priority needs;
- Consideration of rehabilitation and completion of the current mosque or reconstruction on a new site;
- Improvements to provide a safe and functional place of worship and community gathering;
- Community-led arrangements for the future care and maintenance of the mosque.
Project Status
The project remains under consultation with residents and local leaders. No final decision has yet been made on whether to rehabilitate and complete the existing structure or pursue reconstruction on a new site.
Expected Community Benefit
An improved mosque would provide residents with a safer and more suitable place for worship, religious gatherings and other important community occasions.
The project would also help preserve a space that has long been part of the spiritual and social life of Bajiran, while ensuring that any future intervention reflects the priorities of the community.
