Project Overview

During community consultations, residents indicated that the proposed morgue facility could be built adjacent to the village mosque, ensuring it remains closely connected to religious and communal practices that guide funeral rites.

Community members also expressed the need to expand the existing mosque in order to create a dedicated section for women, enabling them to participate more comfortably in religious activities. In addition, residents highlighted the importance of fencing the mosque compound to prevent animals from entering the area and to maintain a respectful and protected space for worship and community gatherings.

The Fuladu Foundation is therefore exploring ways to support the construction of a modest community morgue facility alongside improvements to the mosque infrastructure, while ensuring that these initiatives remain fully aligned with local traditions, religious practices, and community priorities.

Project Components

  • Assessment of the mosque area to identify the most appropriate location for a modest village morgue facility;
  • Potential construction of a small community morgue adjacent to the mosque;
  • Expansion of the mosque to include a dedicated prayer space for women;
  • Installation of fencing around the mosque compound to protect the area from animals and maintain a respectful environment;
  • Community participation in the planning, construction, and maintenance of the facilities;
  • Community-managed maintenance system.

Project Status

This project is currently under consideration as part of the community’s identified priorities.

Community Impact

The establishment of a modest community morgue will support families in Kesser Kunda during times of bereavement by allowing funeral preparations to take place in a dignified and respectful manner within the village.

Improvements to the mosque infrastructure, including the creation of a dedicated space for women and the fencing of the mosque compound, will strengthen the role of the mosque as an important center of spiritual life and community gathering.

Together, these initiatives support cultural and spiritual practices while contributing to the well-being and cohesion of the community.
